Javonte Williams ran for a career-high 155 yards on 25 carries in Dallas' 38-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. The rushing output helped the Cowboys secure their first victory in 22 days, ending a two-game losing streak that had dropped them to 2-4 earlier in the week.
Quarterback Dak Prescott completed three touchdown passes to CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens during the game. He had thrown four interceptions in the previous two contests, which saw the offense score a combined 29 points. This performance marked the sixth time in his career Prescott has thrown at least three touchdowns against the Eagles.
The Cowboys became the first team since 1983 to gain more than 200 yards rushing and more than 200 yards passing in a game against Philadelphia. Williams sealed the result with a two-yard touchdown run with 2:21 remaining in the fourth quarter. The team now holds a 57 percent chance of winning the division, according to ESPN Analytics.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer faced outside pressure during the week, including a radio appearance where he called himself an elite playcaller despite a 9-13-1 career record. He appeared unusually reserved in his postgame comments, stating that his players simply played well. He noted that the win gets the team back into the hunt in the NFC East.
Prescott said he noticed a hungry and pissed-off version of Schottenheimer during the week, though they did not discuss the criticism directly. The quarterback emphasized that the team has the coach's back and focused on executing on Sundays. The Cowboys allowed the Eagles a touchdown on their opening drive and another on the start of the second half, but their defense forced a turnover and recorded two sacks of Tanner McKee.
The victory keeps Dallas in pace with the New York Giants, who are 4-2-1. The Cowboys next face the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium. They have not won consecutive games since a three-game winning streak in Weeks 11 through 13 last season.
Williams said the team did not put together a perfect game but that it was amazing to get the win. Prescott stated that nobody is going to give the division title to the team, and they must earn it each week. The Eagles struggled on offense, and the Cowboys capitalized on that weakness to secure the road win.
