The Minnesota Vikings have allowed only four passing touchdowns in their last fourteen games. That stretch dates back to November 16, 2025. If the current pace holds over a full 17-game season, the team would allow 4.9 passing touchdowns. No NFL team has finished a season with fewer than six passing touchdowns since the league adopted a 16-game schedule in 1978.

The Vikings currently rank first in the league in points allowed per game at 12.3. They also rank second in yards allowed per game at 252.8. The unit relies on a high volume of blitzes to disrupt opposing quarterbacks. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores describes the strategy as creating consistent confusion through varied secondary coverages. He notes that the staff has refined these tactics enough to identify and cover specific gaps in the pass game.

Only three quarterbacks have thrown a touchdown pass against Minnesota in this fourteen-game span. Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw one. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw two. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield threw one. Opponents such as Dak Prescott, Sam Darnold, Jayden Daniels, and Caleb Williams have not scored by air in this period. Only two of the four total touchdowns allowed came in the red zone during the span.

The defensive standard is driven by the coaching staff's emphasis on discipline and communication. Safety Harrison Smith describes the unit's culture as a combination of physical violence and a thoughtful scheme. He says the players know how to work together to track the ball. Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers calls the performance generational, noting that the statistics define the team's current standing.

Linebacker Blake Cashman noted that he had to unlearn previous defensive principles to fit into the new system. He found the scheme unfamiliar until joint practices against the Cleveland Browns in August 2024 helped him understand its effectiveness. He said he needed live repetitions to see the frustration the defense causes opponents.

The Vikings face the Detroit Lions on Sunday at Ford Field. Head coach Kevin O'Connell stated that the team feels confident in its ability to win field position battles and avoid turnovers. He said the defense's performance over 60 minutes provides a clear reason for that comfort. The team will then face Buffalo, Green Bay, and San Francisco in its next three contests.
