Minnesota's stingy unit faces Detroit's high-scoring attack in a Sunday NFC North clash at Ford Field.

The Minnesota Vikings travel to Detroit on Sunday to face the Lions in a matchup between the league's most efficient defense and one of its highest-scoring offenses.
Minnesota enters the game as the only undefeated team in the NFL, holding a 6-0 record. The Lions sit at 4-2 after defeating the Green Bay Packers last week.
The statistical contrast is stark. The Vikings allow just 12.3 points per game, the lowest total in the league. Detroit averages 30.7 points per game, ranking second in the NFL behind only the Buffalo Bills. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Fox, with the Lions favored by three points.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff said the team wants to beat the best. "You want to have these opportunities to show what you’re made of," Goff said. "I think they’re the best in the league right now on paper and certainly present a ton of challenges."
The Vikings have struggled to score in recent weeks. Their offense has produced only four touchdowns over the last five games, averaging 1.5 offensive touchdowns per game. That pace ranks second-lowest in the NFL. Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray said the team needs to finish drives with touchdowns rather than field goals.
Detroit's offense is balanced and productive. Goff has thrown 223 passes without an interception this season. He has 14 touchdown passes and no interceptions, matching a 2019 mark by Russell Wilson for the most touchdown passes without a pick through six games. Goff leads the league with a 12.5 passer rating and 298 passing yards per game. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is the only player in NFL history since 1981 to record at least 40 rushing first downs and 10 receiving first downs through the first six games of a season.
The Vikings have won four straight games against NFC North opponents. They are plus-7 in turnovers on the season, with seven interceptions. Detroit won its last two games and allowed an average of 19 points during that streak. The last time a team allowing 13 or fewer points per game faced a team scoring 30 or more in Week 8 or later was in 2019, when Baltimore beat New England.
The Lions lead the all-time series 82-45-2. The teams last met on December 25, 2025, in Minneapolis, where Minnesota won 23-10. Detroit coach Dan Campbell said the divisional rivalry provides a strong motivation. "This is as good as it gets," Campbell said.
