Alton Junior, 42, agreed to plead guilty on Wednesday, October 28, in Orange County Court, resolving a case that began with a residential raid in July.
Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced the plea, which covers second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon.
Prosecutors stated that investigators raided Junior's apartment at 15 Colden St., Apt. 219, in Newburgh, on Tuesday, July 7, as part of a countywide probe into fentanyl and cocaine trafficking.
Officers executed a warrant to search the unit and recovered two loaded handguns, more than four ounces of cocaine, and over half an ounce of fentanyl.
The search also yielded more than $5,000 in cash, a digital scale, and packaging materials used for drugs, according to the prosecution.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office noted that Junior had an extensive criminal record and was serving both federal and Orange County probation at the time of the raid.
Junior admitted during the plea hearing to illegally holding the large quantity of cocaine and attempting to possess the loaded firearm.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Junior is set to serve nine years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.
His sentencing is scheduled for December 22.
