SLR Food Distribution Inc. is voluntarily recalling Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon because the product may contain elevated levels of lead. The recall covers sales made in fourteen states, including Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
The affected cinnamon was sold in retail and grocery stores from September 8, 2025, through June 28, 2026. The product is packaged in a 110-gram clear plastic container with a black screw-top cap. It carries a best-before date of April 25, 2027, and the UPC code 0688474302754 is printed on the back label.
The FDA recall alert notes that lead exposure can impact nearly every bodily system. Effects depend on the dosage, the duration of exposure, and the individual’s age and weight. Low-level, short-term exposure often does not produce immediate symptoms. No illnesses have been reported to date as a result of the potentially contaminated cinnamon.
Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled product. They should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The recall is happening ahead of the holiday season.
The company identified the risk through testing that found elevated lead levels. The product remains on the market until customers remove it from their homes or stores process the returns.
