The 48th District Court in Bloomfield Township has suspended late fees and penalties for civil infraction cases. The program runs from November 1 through December 11.
The waiver applies exclusively to cases issued within the court's jurisdiction. It covers late fees, bench warrant fees, and other penalties associated with civil infractions.
To qualify, defendants must pay the original fines, court costs, and Secretary of State clearance fees in full during the forgiveness period. The court will not set up payment plans for this initiative.
Bench warrants issued for failure to appear at show cause hearings due to non-payment will be cancelled upon full payment. This cancellation is contingent on resolving the debt before December 11.
Payments must be submitted as money orders or certified checks. These can be placed in the drop box near the front door or mailed to 4280 Telegraph Rd., Bloomfield Township, MI 48302-3200. The court will not accept personal or business checks. Cash payments must be made in person at the courthouse.
Defendants may also pay online with a credit or debit card at www.48thdistrictcourt.us. This method requires the citation number and amount owed. A 3.5% service fee applies to all card payments. Residents can verify ticket eligibility and exact balances by calling 248-647-1141 or 248-686-5150 on weekdays.
